The common consensus with most people is RNB doesn't have the same feel of songs from the 90s. With the Heavy trap influence in most commercial songs I can understand their point of view. That was true until I came across Juhmal. His project "if I had a band" resonates with the 90's sound but, with a modern feel. It's heart felt bops and smooth melodies is the perfect blend for RNB fans.
I asked Juhmal what do you what your listeners to get from If I had a band project. He had this to say...
“If I Had A Band” is a musical journey that takes you through love, heartbreak, and little bit of sex. It is my journal. A collection of true feeling and intense moments throughout the romantic parts of my life. If I had to choose one thing for the listeners and supporters to get from the album, it would be authenticity. I am giving full transparency in the most vulnerable moments of my life and turned it into melody. Also, the production is built around live instrumentation hence the name “If I Had A Band.” It is ironic because shortly after releasing the album, I was blessed to meet and be introduced to four amazing musicians that are now a part of this journey.
